Consumer is defined by Black law dictionary as” a person who buys goods or services for personal, family, or household use, with no intention of resale; a natural person who uses. products for personal rather than business purposes”.

While the consumer law is defined as”Consumer law involves all of the regulations and statutes that seek to create a more equitable balance for buyers in the marketplace and prevent sellers from using dishonest tactics. A consumer is any individual who purchases goods or services, which may be sold by manufacturers, wholesalers, or retailers”

In Pakistan There are different statutory rules and acts to protect the rights of the consumers.

The laws which are enforced and under that  Acts  the consumer courts are established by provinces are ….

  • The Islamabad Consumer Protection Act, 1995”
  • The NWFP Consumer Protection Act, 1997,
  • The Baluchistan Consumer Protection Act, 2003, a law for Punjab called
  • The Punjab Consumer Protection Act, 2005.

The Sindh Consumer Protection Act, 2007.
